Art Classes

ARTitorium on Broadway offers art classes for kids ages 5 and up in a variety of subjects and mediums. Classes generally run for four weeks and begin fresh with the new month. Months may not be included or may have shorter classes due to school breaks.

February Art Classes


Exploring Color Design | 5-7 years

We will use tissue, paint, oil pastels and more to see how colors work (or don’t work) together.

Art Cubes | 8-10 years

Students will come up with several different designs to put on cubes. Then mix and match for extra fun.

Drawing for Beginners | 9+ years

A repeat of our favorite class. Learn to use several techniques to improve your drawings, and learn to use a gray scale to shade.

Drawing for Beginners *For Homeschoolers!* | 7+ years

Learn to use several techniques to improve your drawings, and learn to use a gray scale to shade. This class is oriented for homeschool kids, and will be individualized depending on ages of kids who sign up. 

$30, includes a sketch book and pencils to take home.

April Art Classes


Dinosaur Art | 5-7 years

Students will design a city full of buildings and a big dinosaur to walk down it, paint a dinosaur and a place for him to live. Make a dinosaur sculpture. All things dinosaur!

Foiled Again | 8-10 years

We will use heavy duty foil to make a drawing pad cover and use foil to do some sculpting.  Foil sheets will let us do some cool positive and negative space art, and we will work on some copper embossing.

Designing with Color | 9+ years

We will start with mixing paint to make a tertiary color wheel, then use the color wheel to talk about colors and ways to put them together. Students will do several projects using different color schemes, from warm and cool, to complimentary or analogous.

Fundamentals of Art and Design *Especially for Homeschoolers!* | Ages 7+ 

Students will learn basic elements of art, line, shape, color, texture, value, and form.

This class will be individualized to fit the needs of the students in the class.  If they are already familiar with some aspects of the curriculum, we will move through those and focus on where they need to learn. If they haven’t had much experience with art, we will work at the beginning. The class can be split into three groups, each working on a separate project if needed.

May Art Classes


Nature Collage | 5-7 years

Let’s make collages out of things from nature. Sticks, stones, seashells, beans, etc. It is fun to make patterns and designs from nature.

World Patterns | 8-10 years

We will explore circle designs from Islamic art, geometric shape designs from Africa, along with Native American designs and more.

Find Your Perspective | 9+ years

Fun ways for beginners to learn how to use perspective in drawing landscapes, buildings and trees. It looks tricky but you just need to know the tricks!

FIND YOUR PERSPECTIVE *Especially for Hoeschoolers!* | Ages 7+

Students will not only learn how to do some basic perspective drawing, they will learn why it works and how to get a feel for using it. We will draw a building that looks real, do pictures that make us think about how perspective works, and practice “seeing” what we really see and not what our mind tells us.
